Charles Wood has lived in Epsom for over 30 years, but was born in Barbados. He is married with two sons and a daughter and worked in the National Health Service as a Nurse Therapist.

He is a member of the Choir at St. Joseph's church, where he also has a role distributing the Sacrament. In addition he is the Secretary of the Phoenix social club, Epsom.

In his younger days Charles was a keen cricket player. Nowadays his main sporting passion is horse racing, and he is a member of the Epsom Racecourse. He is also a life member of the Epsom-Chantilly association.

On Epsom & Ewell Borough Council (EEBC) Charles currently has the following roles:

  • Member of EEBC's Licensing Committee,

  • Member of EEBC's Social Committee,

Charles Wood is Epsom & Ewell's first Councillor from an ethnic minority. His election also created interest in Barbados, as he is believed to be the first Barbadian to become a Councillor in the U.K.
