Tribute to Councillor Derek Phillips

5.19.00pm GMT Sun 14th Dec 2008

Derek Phillips, councillor for Ruxley Ward, passed away last week in the Princess Alice Hospice, after a long illness.

Julie Morris, leader of the Liberal Democrat group of councillors, paid tribute to Cllr Phillips. "Derek showed great courage during his illness and carried on attending meetings until very recently. He will be missed for his contributions to the workings of the borough council and as a councillor who regularly attended meetings of the Local Committee as well. Our thoughts are with his wife and children at this sad time."
